The automobile is a car with four wheels and an engine. It was invented by Karl Benz in 1878 and became the first practical internal combustion engine for a vehicle. In 1885, Benz built his first Motorwagen in Mannheim, Germany. On 29 January 1886, he received a patent for his invention. In 1883, Benz created his major company, Benz & Cie., and in 1893, he produced his first four-wheeler, the Prasident automobil.
